The extraction and refining of metals from virgin ore demands a large amount of energy and releases a substantial amount of greenhouse gases. Conversely, metal recycling consumes significantly less energy, which lessens the carbon footprint linked with metal production.

For example, recycling aluminum not only uses 5% of the energy required for its production from bauxite ore, but it can also be infinitely recycled.

Due to the high amount of greenhouse gasses that are released during extraction of raw materials, recycling metals and plastics reduces emissions. By redirecting recyclable materials from landfills to be used in new products, we eliminate the energy-intensive extraction methods and effectively mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

The recycling process inherently yields fewer emissions compared to the traditional methods, making it much more environmentally friendly.

Recyclable metals occupy valuable space in landfills and generate methane. Metal waste decomposes in the anaerobic conditions of landfills, releasing methane, which is approximately 25 times more effective at trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.

Recycling metal helps mitigate these emissions by diverting metal waste from landfills, which reduces the environmental impact of discarded items.
