We trade from inside our own operations
We trade from inside Schupan’s own operations. Our processing plant sits on our balance sheet, and sister businesses recover and process the material we sell, from industrial scrap to a statewide beverage-deposit system. Volumes, grades, chemistry, and flows move through these operations ahead of any published numbers, and that view sharpens every trading decision we make.
It also means we know your side of the trade. We grade, sort, and process material ourselves, every day.

And that makes all the difference. We take positions. We forward-sell material and commit to volumes before the metal is in hand. That is a bet, and it puts us in the trade with you rather than passing the risk along. We can do this because we invest in our people. With an in-house metals desk and decades in the trade, we bring real price-risk and hedging capability to every deal. Because we take real positions and carry the swings on our own book, we can offer fixed, index-based pricing, so suppliers and consumers get stability instead of exposure.

We supply UBC to can-sheet mills, and we buy body and end-stock coil from mills for our can-plant customers. Two positions along the same chain, a place most trading companies never hold at either point.
