The consumer mills that utilize scrap material will only receive clean, uncontaminated scrap, which they can put directly in the furnace. The labor savings is passed to our customers if we receive material which has no contaminants.
Waste oils and fluids that contaminate the scrap material are an environmental threat and are regulated by the EPA. Schupan will provide non-leaking boxes for collecting wet or oily scrap material, which eliminates unsafe, unsightly oils and fluids at your facility.
The consumer mills normally melt specific types of material in a specific “recipe”. Anything extra in the recipe reduces its value or devalues it entirely. Schupan Industrial Recycling separates these materials for the consuming mills. The additional labor savings is passed to our customers if we receive material which has no contaminants.
Each Schupan Industrial Recycling location has a Drive-Thru retail scrap buying operation, which provides absolute convenience and safety for our customers.
Schupan Industrial Recycling accepts all scrap metal at our Drive-Thru locations. Schupan is not equipped to handle automobiles, propane tanks, and other potentially hazardous materials.
We will gladly pay higher prices if our customers are able to accumulate more scrap material because our cost per pound will be lower.
Schupan custom containers are available for collecting your material cleanly and efficiently. Please contact us for a container evaluation.
Recycle your excess and unwanted stuff made of metal. Lots of ordinary household items can be recycled, like:
All of these are made of recyclable metal that can put money in your pocket. Load them up and bring them to the Schupan Drive-Thru Recycling center in Kalamazoo, MI or Elkhart, IN. Schupan will buy all kinds of metals.
Once you’ve arrived at the Drive-Thru Recycling Center, you’ll find that recycling metal is no more complicated than a trip to the grocery store. You’ll drive inside the building with your car or truck, where you’ll be greeted and directed to an unloading space.
Your containers will be unloaded into a recycling hopper and queued up for weighing. If your delivery consists of just one material, the hopper will be weighed as a unit. If you have multiple, separated materials, each material will be weighed individually.
By federal law, all scrap transactions must be recorded and IDs checked. Be sure to bring your drivers license or other ID with you.
Schupan Industrial Recycling uses the Scrap Theft Alert system provided by local law enforcement to identify stolen materials, and has a strict zero tolerance policy for purchasing any materials obtained illegally.
Now that your material has been weighed, it’s time to get paid. The weight of each material will be paid based on a market price for that metal. Your material value will be totaled and you’ll receive a card which can be traded for cash at the ATM located right inside the building.
You will be assisted in unloading your vehicle and determining the type of scrap you are delivering. The type of scrap material determines the price paid to you.
The attendant will give you a weight ticket, showing your inbound (loaded) weight and your outbound (unloaded) weight. The on-site ATM pays out the value of your scrap immediately, so you’ll leave with cash in your pocket.
